Fruittrade Chile 2009: the largest offering of fruits and vegetables in the Southern Hemisphere directly from the growers
The event, organized by the Federation of Fruit Producers of Chile together with ProChile, expects to attract potential buyers for its more than 60 million cases of fruit during the 7th year of its trade fair.
SANTIAGO, CHILE, May 27, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On September 23 and 24, the 7th edition of the "International Fruit and Vegetable Export Trade Fair" or Fruittrade will take place. It is an event organized by the Federation of Fruit Producers of Chile (FEDEFRUTA) with the support of the Export Promotions Board (ProChile) that reports to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
Fruittrade is a trade fair that enables international buyers of fruit and vegetables to meet dozens of Chilean producers in the one same venue. For that reason it is a unique opportunity to establish commercial contacts and drum up business with decision-makers from the leading fruit and vegetable exporters in the Southern Hemisphere.
Last year the event attracted over 130 Chilean producers and 60 buyers from 22 countries. On this occasion, it is expected that these figures will be exceeded and will host 300 Chilean businessmen and 100 importers.
One of the latest features of Fruittrade is the opening of an investors' area hosted by InvestChile, an offshoot of the Corporation for the Development of Production (Corfo), where foreign businessmen seeking investment opportunities in Chile may schedule business meetings with their respective counterparts.
Alongside Fruittrade, FEDEFRUTA will also hold exhibitions of machinery, components and services devoted to the fruit and vegetable industry, besides the 22nd National Convention of Fruit and Vegetable Producers, a series of seminars where Chilean and foreign experts will give lectures on the most recent developments in the marketplace, discuss the challenges facing the fruit and vegetable industry and offer technical and management advice, all of which will be thematically classified per species.
Over 1,000 visitors attend the Convention annually (this year 1,500 are expected), among whom are political and governmental authorities. As a matter of fact, last year the President of the Republic of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, inaugurated the event.
"As you can see, FEDEFRUTA has been able to put together, over the two day event, a series of activities that ultimately encompass the whole of the fruit industry chain. Producers and buyers can meet each other and do business at Fruittrade, foreign investors can seek out opportunities in the Chilean fruit industry aided by such institutions as InvestChile, companies providing the industry with components and services are able to show off their products at our exhibition and specialists will divulge their technical knowledge and the latest market information at the Convention", said Rodrigo Echeverrķa, Chairman of FEDEFRUTA.
