Don Wambles Honored by Cambridge Who's Who
Don Wambles' position as the Director of the Alabama Farmers Market Authority allows him to put federal funds directly into the pockets of farmers

MONTGOMERY, AL, July 15, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Don Wambles, Director of the Alabama Farmers Market Authority, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in communications and relationship development.

Don Wambles has 14 years of experience as the Director of the Alabama Farmers Market Authority. He is responsible for managing all financial records of the Alabama Farmers Market programs, writing grant proposals and contracts, negotiating grants to organize educational workshops for assisting markets in structural and organizational management along with promotional activities needed to increase consumer awareness of farmers markets, expanding an existing market, and participating in the sale of goods. Mr. Wambles is married and has two children and two grandchildren. He considers his family to be the light of his life. He has written the farmers market development manual to guide those who want to start a new market. Through the years, because of the grants he has written, roughly 94 percent of 16 million dollars of federal funds has ended up in farmers pockets.

Mr. Wambles completed coursework in Marketing from Troy University. He received his Diploma from Elba High School in 1971 and became an ordained deacon in 1987. He is a member of the Alabama Agribusiness Council, the Alabama Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association, the National Association of Farmers Market Nutrition Programs, and the National Farmers Market Coalition.

The Farmers Market Authority is a state agency established to assist in the marketing of agricultural products by providing information, leadership, and modern facilities necessary to move agricultural products from the farm to the consumer.
